"Limits to Hiring Managers Alone"... Industrial Safety Solutions Rise
As the enforcement of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act (SAPA) creates widespread pressure across industry sectors, a growing number of companies are adopting automated industrial safety solutions. This shift stems from an increasing realization that simply hiring safety officers is no longer sufficient, driving businesses to invest heavily in robust, fundamental safety infrastructure.
According to industry sources on the 27th, AI safety startup Mithril has secured most of South Korea's major cement manufacturers as clients within just two years of its founding. Mithril provides an industrial safety platform that automates site oversight, risk monitoring, and emergency response—tasks traditionally performed manually by safety managers. Its client roster now includes leading cement producers such as Ssangyong C&E, Aju, Sampyo, and Sungshin Cement, alongside broad cross-sector enterprise clients including SPC and Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC).
Jeong-hyun Cho, CEO of Mithril, stated: "In one instance, a client that had previously suffered a serious accident was able to resume operations less than two weeks after deploying our platform, having its accident prevention efficacy officially recognized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor. Word of mouth has spread rapidly across industries as companies recognize that investing in a fundamental technology solution yields far greater reliability and long-term protection than relying on a few additional personnel."
